Notes:

Twenty entries – the most ever. Eleven first time entries.

Several in fancy dress: eg. The Caribbean Queen team in Rasta hats, The Fluffy Bunnies with rabbit ears, the Vixen Vikings with Viking helmets, tabards, swords, and furry boots. Two Viking-themed boats, a rabbit, a shark, a banana,

The Deacon’s Court boat had a tall mast (very wobbly) and sail, plus its own lifeboat.

Two boats were glorified surfboards/rafts, with no sides.

The J&J was possibly the smallest boat ever (apart from the year someone entered a solitary cardboard box).

Some of the first time entries included:

The Round Table, under the name of the Drown’d Table

St John’s Church, which put in two boats. One was a large surfboard shape, worryingly called The Coffin, crewed by the Minister Glen Cormack. The other was a barrel-shaped little yellow beauty, The Banana Split, which rolled over instantly as predicted by the judges.

The Embarrassing Dads (the winners), who dreamed up the idea late one night, possibly in the pub.

The Lockhart family and friends from Edinburgh, who entered two boats, one of which sank in 8 seconds (Bobalihnio), and one which lasted nearly two minutes before surrendering to the waves (The Viking Not-So-Long-Boat).
